Note: 
All checked baggage must be within Air Jamaica’s guidelines of a maximum weight of 50 pounds in Economy Class or 70 pounds for Business Class between Canada/USA and the Caribbean with total maximum dimensions of 62 inches. Additional charges will apply for overweight and excess baggage.  The carry-on piece must be able to fit under the passenger seat or in the overhead compartment.  Bags exceeding 32kg. (70 lbs) and over 62 inches in total dimensions (L+W+H) must be shipped via cargo.  Boxes will be accepted in lieu or checked baggage allowance provided they do not exceed the size/weight of the check bag allowance. Articles of baggage in excess of those allowed will be accepted for transportation only subject to the availability of space.  BAGGAGE IN EXCESS OF THE FREE ALLOWANCE, BOXES AND HEAVY BAGS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ON ALL JM ROUTES DURING December 10 - January 8 OF EACH YEAR. 

Children for whom the fare is 90% of the adult fare, will be granted baggage allowance on the same basis as a passenger paying the adult fare. Infants under 2 years (without a seat) are allowed one free piece at 50lbs/23kgs on all routes plus one collapsible stroller/pushchair, or an infant carrying basket, or a car seat, may be carried on board subject to the availability of space. 

Hazardous articles such as acids, ammunition, inflammables & matches must not be carried in baggage.

Cabin Seat Baggage (Additional seat for extra baggage):

When a passenger is travelling with something too bulky and/or too fragile to check or put in the overhead bin; they have the option of purchasing a ticket for the fragile/bulky item. The item can be stored in any passenger seat with a physical bulkhead or divider in front of the compartment. Baggage so carried will not be included in determining the passenger’s free baggage allowance or excess baggage charges. These items must meet the following criteria to fit into a seat:
• Item is securable with a seatbelt to avoid shifting during flight
• Item is packaged or covered safely to avoid potential injury to passengers
• Item must not restrict access to, or use of, any required emergency or regular exits or aisle of the cabin.
• Item must be secured in a seat in the same cabin as the owner, and preferably next to the owner.

Charge

All destinations are charged 100% of the normal one-way adult fare for the class of service used by the passenger (minus any Passenger Facilities Charges -PFCs), and for that portion of the trip on which the extra seat is used.


Additional Free Carry-on Items:

In addition to the free baggage allowances provided herein, each passenger may carry, without additional charges, one of the following articles of baggage with maximum dimension of 36 inches (91cms) only when retained in the passenger's custody; except that items listed in (1) and (2) may be carried in the passenger or cargo compartment of the aircraft:

  1. One fully collapsible wheelchair and/or a pair of crutches and/or braces of other prosthetic device for the passenger’s use, provided the passenger is dependent upon them, may carried in the luggage compartment of the aircraft.
  2. One fully collapsible child’s stroller or push chair.
  3. A handbag, pocket book or purse, i.e. which is appropriate to normal traveling dress and is not being used to carry articles which would otherwise be considered baggage.
  4. One overcoat, wrap, or blanket.
  5. An umbrella or walking stick.
  6. One briefcase.
  7. A small camera or a pair of binoculars.
  8. A reasonable amount of reading matter for the flight.
  9. Infant’s food for consumption in flight.
  10. Infants carrying basket.
  11. One light garment bag. The garment bag must not contain any hard objects.
  12. One Laptop
