The following items irrespective of their actual dimensions may be considered one piece and accepted in lieu of one piece of checked baggage whose outside linear dimensions are 62inches (157cms):

  1. One duffel bag, sea bag or B-4 bag.
  2. One knapsack, backpack or rucksack.
  3. One sleeping bag or bedroll.
  4. Any portable musical instrument (including its container) not exceeding 39 inches (100cms) in length.


Additional Free Carry-on Items

In addition to the free baggage allowances provided herein, each passenger may carry, without additional charges, one of the following articles of baggage with maximum dimension of 36 inches (91cms) only when retained in the passenger's custody; except that items listed in (1) and (2) may be carried in the passenger or cargo compartment of the aircraft:

  1. One fully collapsible invalid’s wheelchair and/or a pair of crutches and/or braces of other prosthetic device for the passenger’s use, provided the passenger is dependent upon them, may carried in the luggage compartment of the aircraft.
  2. One fully collapsible child’s stroller or push chair.
  3. A handbag, pocket book or purse, i.e. which is appropriate to normal traveling dress and is not being used to carry articles which would otherwise be considered baggage. 
  4. One overcoat, wrap, or blanket.
  5. An umbrella or walking stick.
  6. One briefcase.
  7. A small camera or a pair of binoculars.
  8. A reasonable amount of reading matter for the flight.
  9. Infant’s food for consumption in flight.
  10. Infants carrying basket.
  11. One light garment bag. The garment bag must not contain any hard objects.
  12. One Laptop.
      

Carriage of Strollers

The tagging of strollers will be standardized offering two options to passengers – strollers that are tagged and placed with hold baggage for delivery with general checked baggage in customs claim areas or strollers that are checked at the gate and delivered at the destination on the jet-bridge or at the aircraft steps. 

Air Jamaica will carry in the luggage compartment free of charge a fully collapsible stroller or pushchair for passengers travelling with infants.  Only umbrella type strollers are allowed in the aircraft cabin.
