If your luggage has been damaged, you must notify an Air Jamaica, operated by Caribbean Airlines Representative before leaving the airport as this substantiates that the damage occurred while in our care. Based on the extent of your damage, we will take a report. A written claim must be submitted within seven (7) days. Please note: Air Jamaica, operated by Caribbean Airlines assumes no liaibility for damage such as scratches, scuffs, dents, cuts, wheels, handles, pocklets, locks, zippers, pull straps, or damage due to over-packing,manufacturer's deffects and as a result of the bag's contents. Addtionally,the Airline is not liable for any damage resulting from inspections by the authorties responsible for security screening.If you believe your damaged baggage is the result of an inspection,you may contact Canadian Air Traffic Security Authority (CATSA) or Transportation Security Adminstration (TSA) directly. IMPORTANT: Air Jamaica, operated by Caribbean Airlines does not accept in or as checked baggage fragile, perishables or valuable articles including without limitation money, jewellry, eye wear, negotiablepaper, securties, documents/certificates(business,medical, travel, education), samples, paintings, antiques, artifacts, manuscipts, irreplaceable books, publications, medication, keys, camera and other photographic or movie equipment, working papers (files, studies, reference material, correspondence, thesis etc.),or electronic equipment (videos, steroes, computers). These items should not be placed in checked baggage but can be taken onboard (subjet to carry-on baggage restrictions). Except as may be required by the Montreal Convention or Warsaw Convention, where applicable,Air Jamaica, operated by Caribbean Airlines will not accept liability for fragile, pershiable or valuable articles including without limitation the following:
When filing a Baggage Claim you are required to submit your PIR, Claim form, copy of your boarding pass and baggage tags. The time bar rules apply: 21 days for delayed and 7 days for damaged bags. (Article 31).
