PROFILE OF MILLICENT HUGHES
Ms. Millicent Hughes, a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, and a registered Public Accountant, graduated from the University of Technology with a BBA, first class honours. She was awarded the Jamaica Institute of Bankers Award for outstanding achievement in 1997 and in 1998 the Bank of Jamaica Award for the most outstanding achievement in the BBA Programme.
Ms. Hughes has over 20 years experience in auditing and finance. She joined the Public Sector in November 1999 at the Ministry of Finance and Planning in the Public Enterprises Division where she was Unit Director, Management Support up to the time of her appointment to the Accountant General’s Department. She has been employed to Jamaica Hotels and Resorts as a Financial Controller at Point Village Resorts; and Mothers Enterprises Limited as a Financial Accountant. Prior to this she had been employed to Touche, Ross Thorburn & Company (now Deloitte & Touche) for 6 years.
Ms. Hughes currently serves on the Public Sector and Taxation Committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica. In addition to being involved in activities at Bethel Baptist Church, she also finds time to enjoy music and reading.
