Piarco, 08 July 2011 – Further to the official changeover of the Air Jamaica JM code to BW, Air Jamaica also recently changed its reservations and booking system. This decision is in alignment with the philosophy of having one airline with two brands: Caribbean Airlines and Air Jamaica. This migration has become necessary to increase the efficiency of the operation and to realise the cost synergies anticipated from the acquisition of Air Jamaica routes. When the migration from two separate reservations systems to one system is complete, customers will eventually be able to book their own tickets, check in from the comfort of their home and create their itineraries as they have in the past.

Port-of-Spain, 27 June 2011 – Effective 01 July 2011, all Air Jamaica flights will operate under the same “BW” airline code as Caribbean Airlines. This means that customers should expect to see Air Jamaica and Caribbean Airlines flights advertised with the BW code followed by respective flight number across all media advertising, airport and booking/ticketing information. For example, Air Jamaica flight JM79 which operates from Toronto to Kingston will now be displayed as BW79.

27 May 2011, Piarco, Trinidad and Tobago W.I. – Days before the deadline for a notice of closure of the largest aviation merger in the Caribbean, Caribbean Airlines has finalised its acquisition of Air Jamaica. The deal was made official at the Office of the Prime Minister in St. Clair, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Minister of Finance, Winston Dookeran, and Jamaica's Finance Minister, Audley Shaw, signed the agreement which was witnessed by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Attorney General Anand Ramlogan, and Works and Transport Minister, Jack Warner.

11 April 2011, Piarco, Trinidad and Tobago, W.I. – Since the signing of the initial agreement almost a year ago, the Caribbean Airlines team continues to work towards the consolidation of Air Jamaica and Caribbean Airlines in time for the 30 April 2011 deadline of the Shareholder Agreement. As with any merger or acquisition, centralization of most of the airline’s operations continues to be the main purpose of this integration process. In this case, centralizing the operations is critical in order to make sound business decisions for the long-term benefit of the company.

Kingston, Jamaica May 8, 2009 –Air Jamaica will implement a new policy for checked baggage on flights between New York and Grenada and New York and Barbados. Passengers travelling on these routes in Lovebird Economy class may now check one bag free of charge, and pay US$25 to check a second bag. Lovebird Executive Class passengers may check two bags free of charge, with a US$25 fee for a third checked bag. The new policy comes into effect May 11, 2009 for New York/Grenada and July 2, 2009 for New York/Barbados, subject to the approval of the government of Barbados.
