Wheelchairs & Other Mobility Aids

Air Jamaica accepts battery-powered wheel chairs and other mobility aids.
Wheelchairs and other mobility aids are carried free of charge, providing the passenger is dependent on it.

Battery operated wheel chairs and other mobility aids must have the batteries terminals insulated prior to acceptance for transportation.

Wheelchairs or any mobile aids with batteries classified as “spillable” that cannot be loaded upright may only be accepted as cargo.

Wheelchair passengers may:

• Carry hand luggage of a size and weight that allows them to handle it on their own
• Carry an infant only if they are able to do all of the following:
  • Ascend/descend aircraft steps with the infant
  • Walk to and from the washroom while carrying the infant
  • Carry the infant in the case of emergency evacuation down a slide raft
